TRAUMA & ATTACHMENT
Trauma work goes at the pace it needs to go. Nothing here requires you to dive into your hardest material before you're ready, or to relive something just to be believed. We'll build safety first through a steady relationship, a sense of what your body needs to feel settled and let the deeper work unfold from there, at a pace that's yours.
HOW TRAUMA & ATTACHMENT CHALLENGES CAN SHOW UP
Trauma isn't only about a single event. Sometimes it is an accident, a loss, a medical crisis, something with a clear before and after. And sometimes it's slower and less visible: the ongoing experience of not having felt safe, seen, or steady enough growing up, or in a relationship that shaped how you see yourself. Both leave a mark, often less in memory and more in the nervous system. This may show up as patterns of guardedness, disconnection, or difficulty trusting that can show up in relationships long after the original experience has passed.
If you find yourself repeating relational patterns you don't want, struggling to feel safe even when nothing is currently wrong, or carrying a felt sense of "something happened" even without a clear story to tell, this work may be a fit.
MY APPROACH
I work with trauma and attachment through a combination of:
-
Neurobiologically-informed art therapy — using image and creative process to work with material that often lives outside of language
-
Somatic-informed techniques — because trauma is held in the body as much as the mind, and healing tends to need the body's participation
-
Attachment-informed and parts-informed work — understanding how early relationships shape the different parts of you, and how those parts learned to protect you
-
Mindfulness and talk therapy — building awareness and language alongside the deeper, less verbal work
-
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), for clients for whom this may be a supportive part of the process
These aren't used all at once, in a fixed order or sometimes at all. We'll draw on what's useful for you, when it's useful, always with your pacing and sense of safety as the priority.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
This work is for people carrying single-incident trauma, complex or developmental trauma, or attachment wounds that continue to shape how they relate to themselves and others. You don't need a clear narrative or a tidy explanation of what happened to begin — we can start with however it's showing up for you now.
WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE
We meet one-on-one, and the early sessions are largely about building the relationship and the internal and relational resources that make deeper work possible. From there, we move at whatever pace feels sustainable, checking in often, adjusting as we go.
